SACRAMENTS FOR CHILDREN
Parish Sacrament Program for School Aged Children
The parish works collaboratively with OLR Primary School to prepare children for the Sacraments of Reconciliation, Communion and Confirmation. Children in the School do their preparation during school hours with the exception of Confirmation which includes some joint sessions with parish children. The Parish program is outlined on this and subsequent pages. For more information about the OLR Primary School program.

PARISH SACRAMENT PROGRAM FOR SCHOOL AGED CHILDREN
OLR Parish offers programs for candidates who do not attend OLR Primary School, but wish to prepare for the sacraments of Reconciliation, First Eucharist and Confirmation in the Catholic tradition. Students of OLR Primary School who are older than the normal classes for each Sacrament also attend the parish program.
ABOUT THE PROGRAMS
The programs for each of the Sacraments of Reconciliation, First Eucharist and Confirmation use the official text for the Archdiocese of Sydney (Gratia Series). The Sacramental journey commences with a Blessing and Enrolment Mass which is followed by an information session. The candidates and their families attend the Mass together as members of the OLR Parish Community, and are welcomed by the parishioners. After this Mass, an information session is held during which the parents will receive all the necessary information needed for their child's preparation, and will be able to finalise any outstanding administration. Children will receive a workbook which includes family activities to do at home and these will also be explained.
PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT
The preparation sessions are designed for parents and child together. Participation by families during this preparation period will strengthen the bonds between the family and the parish and will assist the child to be more fully introduced into the life of the Church. We understand that in certain circumstances a parent may not be able to attend every session with their child and so we are happy to make alternate arrangements to assist these parents on the faith journey with their child.
